We’ve been collecting food scraps in Corrales, New Mexico, since the summer of 2019, when we also added nearby service in Rio Rancho and all of Albuquerque’s West Side.
In a village where the chickens outnumber the humans, it’s no surprise that Corrales is our slowest growing route, but it’s also one of our favorites, thanks to the beautiful views of vineyards and pastures, bosques and acequias. The community’s deep agricultural tradition is a powerful reminder of the importance of rich soil and fresh water to our food cycle, and helps us recharge and reconnect to the underlying purpose of our work.
How our service works
- Put your food scraps in your Little Green Bucket.
- Set your bucket out on pickup days.
- We’ll haul it away for composting and leave you a clean new bucket.
At the moment, we only offer biweekly service in Corrales. If you’re interested in weekly service, though, let us know. We’ll consider it on a case by case basis, and we hope to offer weekly service throughout Corrales by the end of 2021.
