We run a tight ship, and our members do an amazing job making it easy for us, but hiccups are inevitable. Here are some scenarios, and what you should do if you encounter them:
Do you see a clean bucket outside? We always leave one, so if you don’t see one we haven’t been by yet!
You don’t need to do a thing. We’ll always leave a spare, so you can just snap your old bucket shut, use the new one, and put them both out next time. The old one may get gross in the meantime, but as long as the lid is snapped tight you won’t notice, and we promise we don’t mind.
Biweekly members who really want to get rid of the old bucket can email us to request an extra pickup on your off week, for a fee.
Pickup members often ask us if they can drop off their extra bucket at our headquarters. As much as we’d like to broadly allow this option, our current drop-off station can not handle the extra volume, so we have to limit it to highly exceptional circumstances. Thanks for understanding.
It is extremely rare that our drivers pickup your bucket and forget to leave a new one, but it does happen . . . and we also lose one or two buckets every month to porch thieves. Contact us and we’ll get a new bucket out to you as soon as we can… just keep your compostables in another container in the meantime. If we can’t get a fresh bucket to you within a week, we’ll give you a discount on your next renewal.
It’s ok. It happens. If it’s still functional, just put it out as usual and we’ll take it out of circulation — we’re saving all damaged buckets for a future art project, and we salvage the labels for future buckets. If it’s leaking, contact us to discuss how to handle it. For members in good standing, we’ll look away the first time, but for subsequent incidents we will charge a replacement fee.
Above are the most common issues we hear about on pickup day, so we wanted them to be just one click away from your reminder email. If you have other questions or challenges, you can check our complete FAQ, or just contact us.
