Every year, squeezed between the chaotic overconsumption of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, comes a more conscious shopping day: Small Business Saturday. Never has this day been more important than in 2020, when the pandemic has wreaked havoc on so many small businesses.
We’ve been very fortunate to be able to continue operating at full strength all year. We took some hits, of course, and we could certainly use a boost this holiday season, but we’re faring better than so many other local businesses. So while we’re running several Small Business Saturday promotions that will benefit us directly, we’re also using this opportunity to share some love and expose our members and followers to some of our other favorite local businesses.
We’ve come up with four ways for folks to support us this Small Business Saturday:
1. Enter our social media giveaway
A week from today, we’ll draw a random name from among our social media supporters, and award that person a gift box full of goodies from several local businesses (and one non-profit) that we love:
- A set of three reusable snack and sandwich bags from Three Pebbles.
- A sampler six pack of sparkling water from Bluefly Farms.
- A large packet of wildflower seeds from Plants of the Southwest.
- A cute potted succulent from Southwest Cactus.
- Food and spice samples from Three Sisters Kitchen‘s TSK: Food Group project.
- . . . and a mystery gift from a brand new business launching next week!
(We’d also like to give a special thanks to Tiny Grocer ABQ, a new mini grocery store in Old Town, for helping us source several of these items on short notice).
How to enter the giveaway:
Follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook, then tag @LittleGreenBucket in a Post and/or Story. You can get up to 4 entries by sharing a Post and Story on each platform. You do NOT need to be a current member to participate, but members who share a selfie with their bucket, a photo of their bucket in their home, or a video testimonial will get an extra entry into the drawing.
Please note that we may not be able to see your content if your Instagram account is private or your Facebook post/story isn’t explicitly set to Public. Feel free to send us screenshots of your content, via DM or email, to ensure you are properly counted.
2. Become a member and receive a thank you gift from a local business
If you register for a new residential pickup membership between November 28th and December 6th, you’ll be given the chance to select a free thank you gift from one of the businesses featured above. Retail values range from $10 to $20, depending on your selection, and your choices will include gift certificates Plants of the Southwest, Three Pebbles and Southwest Cactus, as well as packaged food products from Three Sisters Kitchen, Bluefly Farms, and our mystery business to be announced next week.
This offer is available to new residential pickup members only. It can be combined with any valid coupons or referral codes you might have.
3. Members Only: Earn double referral rewards
All members of Little Green Bucket are eligible for our referral program, which rewards them with discounts on our service for referring new members. Rewards normally range from $5 to $30 but, from November 28th through December 6th, those rewards will all be doubled!

4. Give the gift of compost collection
Finally, as we enter the holiday season, we’re once again sharing our gift membership options. If you’d like to gift our compost collection service to a local friend or family member, we sell 3 month, 6 month and 12 month packages of our weekly residential pickup service.
